Next, THE TRAFFIC. Everyone hopes to avoid it and get to the stunning open roads of the Dales quicker. Here's the up to the minute traffic information for the North East.

Route One - Wensleydale Circuit via Devils Bridge

A good mix of long straights with technical bends and stunning scenery as you ride through Chapel Le Dale towards Ingleton.

134 km (approx 2 hours ride time)

Good staggered stop-off points for refreshments and fuel..

Mainly long open moor roads with good sweeping turn open views. Some enclosed wall narrow road sections.

Most road surface is average to good with few potholes. Always be on the lookout for Farm access routes and livestock on open moor roads....Enjoy!

Route Two - Buttertubs Pass & Swaledale Circuit

Take a ride over what has been described as 'the most beautiful Mountain Pass in Great Britain' regularly used on Top Gear for test drives and a stunning entrance to the run down Swaledale.

67km - (approx 1 hour 15 mins ride time)

More of a technical run than an open throttle ride. You'll not want to rush this one as there are endless photographic opportunities .

The Buttertubs section is open moor do look out for Sheep, they have very small brains!

Route Three - Tan Hill Inn & Arkengarthdale Circuit

Take a ride-out to the highest Inn in Gt.Britain at 1732ft above Sea Level. It's a remote as you can get, the roads are narrow and winding but boy they're fun! Take the loop down Arkengarthdale in Reeth and across Redmire Tops back to The Manor.

100km (approx 1 hr 45 min ride time)

Buttertubs Pass, Tan Hill Inn, open moor roads with good new surfaces in many places.

Route Four - Masham and Bedale Circuit

Those of you riding up from Ripon with be familiar with some of these roads which are 'Built for Bikers'. There's something for everyone and on a good day these roads cannot be beaten for an exhilarating riding experience.

55km (approx) 1 hour ride time.

Brewery Tours at Black Sheep and Theakstons are best booked in advance and no, you don't get lots of free Beer!

The return loop towards Catterick Garrison from Bedale is less well known but well worth a look at.
